April Lockhart
April Lockhart born 4 July 1995. She began piano and guitar lessons in the 7th grade, which ignited the interest of her. The first song she wrote was called Different, which she wrote when she was 12 years old. At the age of 14 April, she spent a lot of time writing lyrics and perfecting her musical skills. In the following years, she took notes with her father on trips to LA in addition to NY. April began including other topics in the book, Take My Hand, for those of her peers who struggled with peer pressure, disabilities or even suicide. Lockhart has her own fan base and also works as an online lifestyle blogger for the popular Ilia clean beauty brand. As a woman born with no left hand, Lockhart has a significant part to play in her. It's however not her entire story. Because of this, her Instagram account doesn't shy away from her handicap, however it's not focused on it neither. It's a message. that we are all a part of a multitude and that we are all unique and that we're much more than our physical selves. Lockhart said via video that she does not want to be defined by her physical disability. She does not want to become a disability advocate who only speaks about it. There are many aspects to Lockhart. It doesn't impact my day-to-day life. I still do all the normal things and have adapted to the limitations of my disability. It's an integral element of my life so it is important that we talk about it. Lockhart inspires us to keep moving forward with self-acceptance. She admits that she has gone through phases of being uncomfortable with her physique and being uncomfortable wearing some clothing types which exposed her arms. The woman now puts on whatever clothes she wishes and shares pictures on Facebook in awe. Self-love she said is like a journey. "I do not think that you'll be in that place," she said. It's the same for everybody regardless of how much they are afraid. It's my opinion that having those close to you who truly are aware of you and know the depths of your soul is vital because they'll be the people that remind you of what are you worried about?
